Neon Potion Play
Potions play is my son's favorite. He requests it once a week and is always delighted by the fizzing, foaming potions he creates! This neon potions play makes especially vibrant potions with the help of neon liquid watercolors.
Materials:
-
white vinegar
-
baking soda
-
bowls, cups, or bottles
-
spoons, scoops, whisks
-
eye droppers (optional but fun and good for fine motor skills like separating fingers, motor planning, and eye-hand coordination!)
I like to pre-mix the vinegar and liquid water colors in squirt bottles but you can use any cup or bottle or add colors to the potion as you go. I collect everything on a tray to contain the mess. We like to use different bottles, Halloween cauldrons, and a little metal mixing bowl but you don't need anything fancy - any bowl from your kitchen will work well!
Experiment with adding different amounts of baking soda and vinegar to the potion. Watch the fizzing reaction between the two!
Potion add ins: dish soap, glitter (we love bio glitter!), beads, salt, food coloring, dried flowers, sprinkles
